Well it's tax time again and man what a sham it is. If you stop to think about it we are taxed up the proverbial butt. Everything we own everything we do and almost everything we buy is taxed.We pay income tax on our pay checks, but wait, that's not enough, we have to pay more at the end of the year.Not to mention social security and medicare tax. There is personal property tax ,federal sales tax, local sales tax,you even have to pay taxes on social security, wow! Check this out.

I'm just wondering if other folks out there feel the same way I do? When will our government start listening to the people? We voice our opinion, we vote, we protest but it seems to be of no avail. I suppose that we are still allowed by our government to do those things so we will feel like we actually have a voice in our government.It's time we learn that our voice is like a small child at the bottom of the grand canyon barely audible. They say they listen and nod there heads and make all kids of speeches but its all theatrics and in the end, well, they are going to do what they want and there is nothing we can do about it.Now that are we are in a national election year we have a chance to change things, only to realize there will be more political B. S being flung around then you'll find on a cattle farm. Evidently we the voters love the smell of B S and are more than willing to fall head first into it, in hopes that we come out smelling like a rose!Only to realize it smells just as bad as the previous pile.

Well the president made his big speech today at Disney-world Florida and again his main subject was the economy and job creation. The thing that stuck me the most was his inference to tourism now being Americas number one export. What! Yes our number one export is tourism. So in order for this to happen and create millions of new jobs we must lower the requirements for tourism visas so foreigners can come and go with ease and spend there money here. It all sound just peach right? well not to be a nay sayer but the only jobs created will be low paying jobs in the service industry. Ok a job is a job but the long term effect of this country not producing higher paying jobs will lower the countries overall standard of living in order to match the rest of the world. With the express purpose of evening out the playing field across the globe.In short our standard of living will be on par with all the free world countries and we will no longer dominate in that area. You could say it's part of the one world conspiracy and so forth but we are headed that way. The middle class is being decimated and the rich will be getting richer. So as I see it it is all part of the game and we are the pawns.

It's 2012 and another election year has arrived. I'm not looking foreword to all the annoying political ads on the tv along with all the political pandering ,rhetoric and false promises . Although on the other hand it could be a blessing in disguise. How's that you might ask. Well let me explain. This is a general election year ,that means we are going to vote in or out a new leader of this great nation. How that may and I do emphasis may benefit us is the current folks in power want to stay in power, so in times like these they tend to give the people something that might influence the voter to cast a ballot for them. Such as all of a sudden the unemployment rate goes down,A miracle! over night jobs are being created and the economy is on a huge up-tick eureka! Taxes are being slashed and all is well in the land of plenty. Now if they can only get the gas prices down ,lower the cost of food and utilities we will have heaven on earth. Maybe some good will emerge from all of this ,but who knows.Although the Fed. has a rosy outlook I can't say the individual states do. From the west coast to the east coast and all in between there are massive unemployment, budget and social problems. Our infrastructure is crumbling and our schools are failing.I guess what it boils down to is to is a lot of talk and very little action.

The United States Of America is a republic not a democracy. We are governed by laws enacted and approved by Federal ,State and local branches of government. My concern is that all these governments are doing is enacting laws upon laws with no thought of constitutional veracity or impact upon our social and personal freedoms. Presently there are so many antiquated laws on the books that need to be removed or updated.The problem is we should just enforce the laws we do have and stop piling on new ones. As I see it commonsense has become a thing of the past and not a part of todays legislative conscience.Soon enough we will have a nation of criminals, having the largest prison population in the world. With so many laws being enacted every day, it will become impossible to not break one .

Well it looks like congress is in for a shock next election . The GOP majority is now been referred to as the do nothing congress. This sparks danger for incumbents, the American people are sick and tired of the same ole rhetoric spewing from the mouths of politicians. It looks like for this congressional cycle the Republicans will take the brunt of the heat and rightly so. They have accomplished absolutely nothing but rancor, division and name calling. In my opinion they blew their chance to do something meaningful for our country. Instead they played the spoiled little kid who couldn't get his way with everything. So what did they do ? They decided to do nothing ,block everything and criticize everything.All they can think about is how to get Obama out of office and protect big business and the banking industry, that's it! So in the end I'm sure they will look back at the capital building as they carry out their little box of personal items and say to themselves, wow it sure was nice while it lasted.

So as I see it our Government gets caught spying on Iran , our top secret spy drone crashes. The Iranians recover the drone in tact and now posses a highly sophisticated piece of equipment and what does our government do? They ask if they can have it back! What a joke, what are the chances that will ever happen? You guessed it zero ,nil noda, thats right it ain't going to happen.What amazes me is that these drones are flown by remote control. Every command is controlled by a human controller in a far off place.He or she has video and pilot like control over the aircraft. So why in God's green earth didn't they incorporate a self destruct capability? That way they could have destroyed the drone before anyone could get their hands on it. Now that makes sense to me, but hey who am I, just an observer. I guess they know something we don't.

Have you ever noticed in our society that basically everything we do as individuals, gender or as a group seems to be competitive. My point being for example the rivalry between men and women. Males and females seem to be at odds with each other over a number of issues, one being jobs. another one politics and yet, this unlikely category raising children. In my opinion everything in our lives seems to pit one against another.Women thinking they can do a better job, when men say they can. On a broader scale, our government which espouses to be for the people, are actually just the opposite and the people likewise against the government. Let's go back,way back to the most egregious war of all times, the Civil War. The irony in that name seems to be there was nothing civil about it! Over 600,000 men were killed and scores wounded, brother against brother,father against son etc.. So maybe that's where this thing, one against another really got it's boost. I see today that even the police who in the past, have championed the phrase to serve and protect, has been diminished by the we against them attitude. When you think about it,even the place you work contains a we against them attitude concerning management and hourly workers. Don't get me wrong I don't mind competitiveness, I do believe it is beneficial to our society, in turn it helps to promote progress. I don't want to seem naive by saying, man it would be so nice if we could drop the we against them attitude and come together in our attempt to promote a better life for all people..

I am very concerned that our liberties are constantly being trampled on by local governments ,school boards, fed. government and police.

It is very disheartening to witness this grievous disregard for the Constitution and bill of rights that so many people given their lives defending.This has bothered me for quite a long time but always felt helpless to do anything about it. What has sparked this today was this article in the local paper concerning one of our middle schools.Here is a part of that news article.

PALM BAY — A Brevard middle-schoolers punishment for hugging another student has some up in arms over what they see as an innocent, and increasingly popular, gesture by a child.

Others say the school, Southwest Middle in Palm Bay, has every right to put the squeeze on public displays of affection, a move so common in the United States that some schools ban everything from handshakes to hugs to high-fives.

The debate fired up when word got out that Southwest Middle eighth-grader Nick Martinez, 14, received an in-school suspension Nov. 1 for a between-classes hug with a female student, witnessed by the principal, Todd Scheuerer.

Brevard Public Schools officials and the principal say Martinez violated the schools longtime no-hug policy, which is in the student handbook and can be found on-line.

All schools must adhere to the district's student conduct policy addressing public displays of affection, said Christine Davis, district spokeswoman, who could not comment on the student's discipline record or whether the girl Martinez hugged was suspended.

But individual schools can implement tougher policies with approval from their student advisory councils, which include parent and staff members, she said.

It's a small thing in comparison with all the blatant disregard for our personal rights occurring in our country. It seems to me that any Tom, Dick or Harry, committee,or local official who doesn't like something can ban it, no-madder what it is, IE hugging, shaking hands,walking down the street,wearing certain clothing, etc... You get the idea.

I have wondered for quite some time the legality of banning various functions,actions or speech, why and how do they get away with this? What happened to the people's right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness and the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity?

All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

I have looked a bit into the constitution and did not find the word ban and how that could or would be enacted in law today.

In politics today the sociological warfare focused on the American people has become extremely intense and to me very offensive. For instance, the Tea Party, while they might have some valid concerns, they base there rhetoric not on solutions but on hate, anger, and distaste for big government. All the time avoiding the real issues at hand, ducking the fact that when presented with difficult questions they have no real solutions. Masking their radical views by taping into the so called anger in America, in hopes that they can win elections by slipping past and masking their real agenda. The republican party however, takes somewhat a different approach by allowing the Tea Party folks to do much of the dirty work they would love to do but do not have the courage to do. Also by promoting a sociological barrage of misinformation and in some cases unfounded accusations. The idea here is to get it said, get it circulated and keep saying the same thing. You see, just getting this stuff out their where people hear it constantly, has it's way of convincing people that hey, this is got to be true, when really, their is no factual basis for it.

Now that is a good question, so I look at it in this way, if they can't be loyal to there name sake party, then who can they be? Surely not the voters or their constituents. I would say to them, if you don't like the party you are in, then get out, switch, or go Independent, but whatever you do, do it for the people you represent and STICK TO THE CORE PRINCIPLES, not for your own selfish, egotistical purposes.

Well here we go again,the GOP is back at it with the Pledge to America rhetoric. Hmm, I sense Newt Gingrich in the room right now, any way, here's the thing, what part of America does this pledge refer to? Here's what they made clear:
Tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires by borrowing $700 billion we can’t afford;
Tax hikes for 110 million middle-class families and millions of small businesses;
Cutting rules and oversight for special interests like big oil, big insurance, credit card and mortgage companies and Wall Street banks;
Doing nothing to stop the outsourcing of American jobs or to end tax breaks that are given to companies that ship jobs overseas;
All while adding trillions to our nations deficit.

Their plan is also notable for what it doesn't talk about: protecting Social Security and Medicare from privatization schemes; investing in high-quality education for our nation's children; growing key industries like clean energy and manufacturing; and rebuilding our crumbling roads, rails and runways.This is the same agenda that caused the deepest recession since the Great Depression, costing 8 million jobs, wiping out trillions in family wealth and setting middle-class families back. Instead of a pledge to the American people, Congressional Republicans made a pledge to the big special interests to restore the same economic ideas that benefited them at the expense of middle-class families.(WH blog)
Like I've said before, they want to take America back,well, they will, back to the same failed policies that got us in this mess in the first place. Why anyone would think this is good policy is beyond me.But hey, this is America and we all have a choice, but to make the right informed choice is the key to a great nation.

I see where Sarah Palin, in her new Sarah Pac video,has officially ordained herself as defacto leader of the Tea Party. What I see here is, her attempt to position herself for a possible 2012 presidential run. I still can't see how she will get there from here,but who knows,stranger things have happened. Politics make for strange bed fellows,so the possibilities are always there. On the other hand I do think that if the current Tea Party candidates fair well in Nov.then the game is on,but, if not, then I don't think the Tea Party will have to much political clout left and just might fade into the sunset. My question still remains, are the American people ready for a viable 3rd party? In my opinion, for a party to be influential and powerful then there candidates must be credible and in touch with what all Americans are concerned with and to sense where America is nationally and on the world stage. Radical agendas only appeal to a small minority of people. Because of all the media coverage it receives, it sometimes gives politicians a false sense of security concerning what they perceive the electorate wants. Remember the squeaky wheel always gets the grease.

Don't you just love how the main stream media loves to stir things up? In my opinion it's their stealthy goal to manipulate and control politics and politicians. Sound bites, video editing, mis quoting all in hopes that the viewer is apathetic enough to take there word for it and not do the real research to find the truth. For example,the only way the Tea Party has any so called credibility is because the mainstream news keeps them in the forefront of the news daily. They have made them "a force to be record with", what a crock, it's all smoke and mirrors. No doubt that the news media does have some heavy duty influence. For example, Fox news for instance has admittedly gave 1000,000 dollars to the Republican party and report the news with a slant toward the right, and MSNBC, toward the left. So far and balanced is virtually nonresistant. As far as I know the Constitution protects the freedom of the press and that's ok with me.

I'm speaking as an Independent voter and today I see nothing positive about what the Republican and Tea party folks want to accomplish. Presently,they have no real agenda for American and no plan to move us forward. Just getting elected to shut down government, serve subpoenas,de-fund health care,invest our social security money in the stock market and reduce unemployment benefits to 30 days only, is absurd and anti productive for this nation.Oh and not to mention,reverse all the positive accomplishments already in place, to help students and the middle class.The Tea Party candidates have a right to exist, function and run for office, but in my view their views are extreme.For instance they advocate smaller government,but what they require from the government to do,will take a big government spending program to do.Example, Advocating for more police power, more foreign policy imperialism,and more power for the federal government to detain, torture, and abrogate basic civil liberties. Noticeably they exclude most minorities and religions and want to infuse their religious beliefs into government and on the public. What it boils down to is this, you can be mad as hell about the economy,and the situation you may be in, but think about the consequence of your vote and remember this, it didn't happen overnight, it took a few years to get us here and it will take a few to get us out. But I see the light at the end of the tunnel, if we continue to move forward as we are , then step by step and inch by inch we will come out of this mess and be better for it.

I would like to ask Sahara Palin just how Barak Obama has taken away any of her personal rights and has diminished her life in any way. Personally I don't think she would have a plausible answer. Since her time in obscurity as Alaska's half governor, she has improved her life 100 fold,she was selected to run for the 2nd most powerful office in the land, she goes where she wants, she says anything she wants and makes a ton of money doing it. Even her family has prospered under Obamas cruel reign. This, I'm taking America back crap and restoring honor B.S is just what it is. We as Americans, have not lost our honor or our freedoms.As for Glenn Beck, he continues his misinformation campaign and is getting mega rich in the process. Just think about this folks ,if we as a people were so depressed and with little or no liberties left, do ya think these folks would be able to do what they are doing? Some polls such as the AP-GfK poll have supposedly indicated that independent voter support for Barak Obama has slipped substantially from his pre-election numbers. I know that the independent vote has been widely sought after and that this poll may indicate trouble for the Dems.in the fall. However, I disagree, I believe not much will change in Nov. Why would Independents go with republicans? Who at the present time do not have the countries best interest at heart. What plan to move America forward have they presented? To be honest, all I hear from them is no, no, no and when confronted and pressed for an answer , all they can say is, we want to take America back! Now that is a truthful answer. Why, because back is where they will take us! Back to discrimination, back to no social security, back to no Medicare, back to tax cuts for the rich, back to spying on Americans, back to preference for big business,and if in majority, to Democratic witch hunts. That's right, the party of no has no agenda.

ONE NATION WORKING TOGETHER

Our nation stands at a critical crossroads. The 30-year drive for a low-wage, high-consumption society that imports more and more of what it consumes has hit the wall.

Millions are unemployed, with little recovery in sight. A record number of Americans who want desperately to work have been jobless for more than 6 months.

At the same time, Wall Street continues to roll up big profits. Banks and corporations have made off with trillions of public dollars, while small businesses can't get loans and cities are being forced to make cuts to public education and public safety, harming our children and our communities.

Obstructionists in Congress are doing everything they can to stop anything that helps working people, and they are scapegoating workers for the demise of the economy. Public sector workers are being cast as selfish, auto workers are being blamed for the troubles of the auto industry, and teachers are being blamed for an education system in need of support.

Working people are frustrated and angry-incensed by the government's inability to halt massive job loss and declining living standards on the one hand, and the comparative ease with which Republicans in Congress, with help from some Democrats, have done their best to make the world safe again for JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs and CitiGroup, on the other.

Just as we have seen through history, fear mongers in our country have seized on that anger and are working hard -- unfortunately with some success--to use justifiable anger about a failing economy to divide us.

We have to fight this hateful demagoguery that only benefits our foes, and we can't do it alone. History has taught us that the best way to fight the forces of hatred is to address the economic policies that led to our economic suffering, and that our fight must draw its strength from an alliance of the poor and the middle class-everyone who works for a living.

It is against this backdrop that we join ONE NATION.

ONE NATION is a multi-racial, civil and human rights movement whose mission is to reorder our nation's priorities to invest in our nation's most valuable resource - our people.

The organizations that have come together to form ONE NATION believe that our goal should be a future of shared prosperity, not stubborn unemployment and a lost generation. Workers should be able to share in the wealth they create, and everyone deserves the opportunity to achieve the American Dream - a secure job; the chance for our children to get a great public education and the opportunity to make their own way in the world; and laws that protect us, not oppress us.

ONE NATION is a long-term effort to reverse the dangerous economic course of our country over the past four decades. It brings together organizations from across the progressive spectrum-labor, civil rights, environmental, faith and many others-recognizing that none of us alone have been able to achieve our priorities, whether they are large-scale job creation, labor law reform, immigration reform, investing in public education or other concerns, and that we will not realize change until these priorities belong to all of us.

ONE NATION shares the labor movement's policy agenda: An economy that works for all; good jobs, fair jobs, safe jobs, and more jobs; reforming Wall Street; repairing our immigration system; quality education for every child; and ensuring that everyone in America has the opportunity to contribute to and strengthen our country. Restoring workers' rights to organize and bargain collectively is at the heart of the policy agenda.

The ONE NATION march on Washington on October 2, 2010 will charge up an army of tens of thousands of activists who will return to their neighborhoods, churches, schools and, especially, voting booths, with new energy to enact our common agenda. And on the same day, the labor movement will walk door-to-door in targeted states around the country, bringing the same message to union members exactly one month before the fall elections.

The march aims to bring working people, young people, retirees, civil rights activists and many others together on the Mall to show the obstructionists in Congress that we are many and diverse, strong and that united-and we will fight together for the American Dream.

Many of our unions are already committed to work as a part of ONE NATION. The unions of the AFL-CIO proudly join this coalition and pledge to work collectively to add our support to this great effort.

Working people can make a difference when we rely on ourselves and act collectively. We are America. And together we can make our voices heard.
